Etisalat Clarifies about Nayatel

Islamabad: In response to the news item “Etisalat eyes take over of Pakistan’s Nayatel” also published in Daily Times dated Jan 25, 2011, a statement issued here denies any such speculations. It is further clarified that Etisalat has never shown any direct interest in acquisition of Nayatel. Being a market leader in telecommunication sector in the country, PTCL is of strong view that owing to the operational environment and challenges, the telecom market must consolidate, like witnessed in many telecom markets around the world. Thus discredits any news item appears in this regard
